Potential
Potential 1-1-26
So, here we are, at the start of another year. I will confess that I have spent many a minute contemplating the year that has been, as well as the year to come.
I’ve thought about the last year, five years, ten years, and on and on. It brings to mind the sheer scope of everything that has happened in my life.
I marvel at the vastness of occurrences that I have experienced in my life, the good, the bad, the terrifying, and the ugly. The only way I can even begin to describe the year to come: potential.
I’ve had wonderful, miraculous things happen over the years. I’ve also had horrible, catastrophic things happen to me as well. With the bitter comes the sweet. With the darkness comes the light.
I have no idea what lies ahead for me in this New Year. I await wonderful, positive, fantastic things. I await the lessons from the challenges that are coming my way. It’s a part of the journey, it’s the rules of the game. I recognize the unknown, and the potential for anything.
In thinking of how to describe this to a friend, the only comparison that came to mind was nature. Nature has tremendous potential: it can create a picture-perfect rainbow that will be gone in seconds. It can also create a tornado that leaves your home in splinters.
Just as one must acknowledge and respect this potential within nature, I acknowledge and respect the potential of the year to come.
Welcome, 2026. I’m here to learn everything I am meant to learn. I am awake and I acknowledge the potential of the New Year.
