An Unlikely Convert

Image
For weeks now I have been on a righteous quest, to reorganize my home. The desire to dive into the deep end of home organization came from watching the show “Tidying Up” on Netflix. Marie Kondo is the host of the show, a noted home organization expert.   She has written several books on home organization, including “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”, which has been translated into English and several other languages. Image source:  https://kwprofessionalorganizers.com/2018/04/the-konmari-method/ When I began watching “Tidying Up”, I thought the show would focus on home design, building bookcases, adding storage solutions to suit people’s needs. To my surprise, however, the show focuses on what the homeowner already owns, what they already have for storage solutions. In each episode, Marie Kondo arrives at a client’s home, and talks to the client about what their goals are for their home, now and in the future. Also, Kondo takes a moment to speak to the house.

Hello everyone, I hope you are well. I have a wonderful piece of news to share with you all. I love to participate in social media, specifically my Goodreads account. It allows me to create a virtual library of books I’ve read, books I would like to read, to read reviews written by other Goodreads users, and interact with others like on Facebook or Twitter. One thing you may not know about me, as often as I read, I love to watch movies. I am a bona fide cinephile. This year, I tried to watch as many Oscar nominated films as I could this year. I saw half of the nominees in the Best Picture category, and have the rest of the films on order at my library. When I get off of work, I go home, and watch a movie on TV. I have a few streaming services that I watch on my smart TV, including Netflix, Philo, Kanopy, Hoopla, Tubi TV, Pluto, and more. Netflix and Philo are paid streaming services… …Tubi and Pluto are free… …and Kanopy and Hoopla are offe

Dialogue-Part Two-The Charge

Dialogue- Part Two-The Charge My brain has been a maelstrom for weeks. Every time I sit down at a computer, to begin to write what I have on my mind, a storm blows in, sending my thoughts into complete chaos. I have weathered the storm for weeks. I believe that the storm has finally passed. I believe it is now time to discuss what has been on my mind. The United States is a divided nation. It has been for some time now, long before the Presidential election of 2016 ever took place.  Political leanings vary. Religious practices vary.  Ethnicities vary. Sexual orientation and gender identities vary. While countless things differ and vary, hatred remains. Hatred proliferates. The Southern Poverty Law Center reports that there are now over 1,000 active hate groups in the United States. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/20/us/hate-groups-rise.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&fbclid=IwAR0kJrSQkGYfk9lsYq2RtZS2GW77SOLCp1U16B9VrhNWURWeZlYGkzZOykM Though dialogue a sim

Dialogue-Part One-Barcodes

Image
Dialogue Part One-Barcodes One of my favorite pastimes is shopping-especially for books. I go into a bookstore, browse around, looking at the spines of the books on the shelves. If I find a title that intrigues me, I read the back cover of the book to see if it’s something I’m interested in. If I’m interested, I then look at the price. When in a grocery store, home improvement store, big box store, there is one thing that all the products in that store have in common: they have a barcode.  It has happened, upon occasion, to find an item that has a barcode but no price marked on it. In some stores, there are several scanners throughout the store to scan the barcode of the item. Upon scanning the item, you find out its price, the weight or ounces of the item, the SKU number or identifying numerical code for that item, and more. By simply scanning the barcode of the item, you can find every piece of information about that item, everything you need to know to make a purchas

Dear Luna March 2019

Dear Luna,       Hello! How have you been my friend? I hope you have been well.        I saw your super moons the past two months-you looked incredible! With your lunar eclipse in January as well, it was truly a sight. I was discouraged that as you went into your eclipse phase, you were directly over my house! It made it hard to get a picture of you! I tried to catch a good image of you, on my phone and on my camera, but I could not. Still, it is an event I will remember.       How are things in your corner of the sky? Things have been good for me. I am still working in the library, 26 years now! I am working on my next book, "The Written Word."  I think I have the interior of the book done; now I have to focus on cover design and a book trailer for YouTube.      I am sorry I have not written in a long time. Writing has been hard for me of late.  I have been working on the same piece for over a month now. I'm clearly not finished with it, as I keep going b
