Chinese New Year

Image
Today begins the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival. Like many Judaic and Islamic faiths, the Chinese New Year calendar is lunisolar calendar, meaning the months of the year are influenced on the phases of the moon and the sun.  Chinese New Year is celebrated in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and in many Chinatown locations in the United States. While in the Gregorian calendar the year is 2015, this New Year in the Chinese calendar is number 4712.The Chinese calendar began in the year 2637, BCE (Before Christian Era.) There are 12 zodiac symbols that commemorate each New Year. The symbol for this year is the Ram (also translated into Sheep or Goat.) The year you were born is your zodiac sign. Believe It

For years, there has been a debate in society, and in the medical community: Can a person be overweight and healthy?  We have been led to believe that this is an impossible combination. . However, there has been a recent discovery in the world of science that refutes this. In 2013 the “fat gene” was discovered. The answer is yes. Researchers have discovered what has been t...

Are we drawn to colors? Are colors drawn to us? Do colors have a meaning? If so, what do they say about us? For years now I have loved the color red. That may seem surprising to you, since I call myself the “Indigo Poet of the Moon.” But lately, red is it. I cannot honestly tell you when this transition occurred. But I have been drawn, instinctively, for some time now, to the color red. I have been naturally drawn to colors in the past. First I was drawn to the color pink, when my Mother was fighting breast cancer. Every October I wear as much pink as I can to spread awareness of the disease. After that, when Esperanza Habla was born, I was drawn to the colors indigo and purple. Whenever I bought anything  I was sure to get plenty of purple.  I have many purple clothes.  I have a purple watch. The background of my first blog is purple. The titles of all my writings here are in purple. The image of space on this blog is mainly purple. Purple is my signatu...
