Super Blue Blood Moon

Tomorrow night’s full moon is a rare event-it is a blue moon. What is the definition of a blue moon? When a month has two full moons within the same month, the second full moon is called a blue moon. Blue moons are not at all common; the last blue moon occurred in July of 2015. This brings to mind a popular phrase in the English language: “once in a blue moon.” This phrase is used to describe something happens infrequently, not a regular occurrence.

Besides the rarity of experiencing a blue moon this month, tomorrow night’s full moon will be a supermoon.  A supermoon or “super moon” is when the moon is the closest to the moon in its orbit. As such the moon appears larger and brighter in the nighttime sky.

Tomorrow night’s supermoon completes lunar trilogy -the full moons on December 3, 2017 and January 1, 2018 were supermoons as well.

There is a third reason that the full moon is a special event: there will also be a lunar eclipse. The eclipse will occur at 3:48am (Pacific Time) Wednesday morning and will last almost 3.5 hours. Views on the Western part of the U.S. will be the best. News reports are informing people to wake before sunrise tomorrow to see the eclipse. During the eclipse the moon will take on a red tint, giving it the name of the blood moon.

The experience of a Super Blue Blood Moon with a lunar eclipse happening in one night is truly a “once in a blue moon” phenomenon. There has not been a blue super moon to have a lunar eclipse in 152 years.

With this lunar phenomenon, the waves of the ocean will experience marked changes. Likewise, we will experience changes within ourselves. The website Forever Conscious writes about the effects of the Super Blue Blood Moon:

“Eclipses often bring turning points in our lives. They are often an instigator for change and illuminate areas of our lives that need attention. The Moon represents our emotions and how we feel safe and secure as we move through the world. During an Eclipse, our sense of security and comfort is often shaken in some way, and we are given the opportunity to really look within and discover our fears, hopes, dreams and the truth.

The website Elite Daily offers its insight into the meaning of the Super Blue Blood Moon:

“A full moon eclipse, like the one we have ahead of us on Jan. 31…is like three full moons rolled into one. Think of this kind of event as a dramatic tossup in the course of your life, because when it hits, it radically alters the status quo in one way or another…The way to cope with these changes is to acknowledge the news that they bring as a necessary stepping stone into the next phase of your life. You might find that the changes an eclipse brings can be challenging or more difficult than you might have expected, but these challenges force you to leap forward into your fears, and to accept all that life has to offer you on the other side of them. A full moon lunar eclipse especially, like the upcoming one on Jan. 31, 2018, is known to show you a person's true character. This can be difficult, as it's always a toss-up about whether or not you're going to like what you see. That said, with the super blue blood moon lunar eclipse in the prideful sign of expressive Leo, you could very likely have a light shining on your own true colors, and that will surely have a positive effect, because this awareness can only lead to growth.”

The Reinfery 29 website offers insight into the personal effects of the super blue blood moon:

“In general, lunar eclipses are opportunities to tend to the relationship you have with yourself. When we spoke with Athena Perrakis, PhD, founder and CEO of Sage Goddess, about last August's total solar eclipse, she explained that eclipses of a solar variety can underline truths about the world around you, while those of the lunar sort illuminate truths about yourself. ‘A lunar eclipse reveals what’s hidden about you, kind of your internal landscape,’ she said, adding that you ought to treat this type of celestial event as ‘a chance for internal reflection.’ Maybe a revelation will strike you the night of the eclipse. This could be as major as realizing you actually hate your job, or as minor as realizing you actually hate, say, that end table in your living room. On the other hand, you might still be coming to terms with a personal truth that you unearthed months ago. Now's the time to embrace that fact about yourself wholeheartedly.”

The website Bustle offers insight into the super full blood moon for all the astrological signs:
