Covid week 10

Image
The New Normal Hello my friend, how are you? I hope you are safe and healthy and doing well. I am doing fine; I am healthy, completely virus free. I am writing on week 10 of the pandemic crisis. This week I went back to work. All of us that work in the library are assigned to teams, working every other day, to encourage limited numbers and ensure social distancing. I am on the second team, and went in to work twice this week. Driving to work this week was surreal to me. Not all of my city is open for business; as such, very few people were out on the road. It felt like it did in the early days of the lockdown, as if I were in the middle of a dystopian movie. Walking in to work felt completely foreign to me. I have never had nine weeks at home in my life, save summer vacation in my college days. It was nice to see all of my colleagues again. We had seen one another via video conferences; still, it felt good to be with people again. That being said, everyone had a fac

COVID week 9

Do The Change Hello there friend, how are you? I hope that you and your family are home and safe and well.   I am writing on week 9 of the COVID crisis, day 62 of sheltering in place. I received news this week that I will be returning to work in the coming days. While I am beyond grateful to have been paid in this time outside of work, and that I have a job to return to, I find myself feeling nervous about my city opening up again for business as usual. That being said, I know that it will not be "business as usual" at all. We are returning to work, and to society, in what can only be called a new normal. Virus cases will undoubtedly rise, as will the numbers of those that have passed. I remind myself that about 85% of those that contract the virus survive it, and that a positive diagnosis is not a death sentence. Two months into this pandemic, I have been, luckily, thankfully, unscathed. I have not contracted the virus, as far as I know. I have a job to go back to, and money

COVID week 8

Topsy Turvy Hello there friend. How are you doing? I hope you are home and safe and doing well. I am writing on week 8 of the COVID crisis, day 56 of sheltering in place. I am home and safe and virus free. I have had a busier week than normal, as I have completed some home work assignments, and have participated in two video conference meetings. I am new to these meetings, and am flying blind in a sense. That being said it is fun to connect and see everyone again. This week was also unique in that there were three significant astronomical events: *a meteor shower *a sighting of Halley’s Comet *a super full moon-the last of the year Did you get to see any of these phenomena? I could not see the meteor shower, or Halley’s Comet, as it was too cloudy.  I did see the super moon, and marveled at Luna’s beauty. I tried to get a picture of her with my phone; however the image I got did not match the brilliance of the moment: I also had a completely crazy, upside d

COVID week 7

Keep On Keeping On Hello there friend, how are you? I hope you are home and safe and doing well. I am writing on week 7 of the COVID crisis, day 49 of sheltering in place. I feel quite safe at home in quarantine, and have not ventured out for groceries in more than a week. I did take some trash and recycling out this week; it felt good to be out in the fresh air and sunshine. As for life at home, I have had a productive week. I have continued my project of saving photographs and documents to my tablet. I have made a great progress, and am about 90% done. It gives me such a peace of mind to know that my photos and documents are saved. I also had some time to write some reviews for my movie review blog. I have watched tons of content in these seven weeks, but, ironically, very few movies. I finally had time to write reviews for movies I had seen before quarantine, as well as three or four I have watched in this time. The reviews can be found here: https://ehflickpicks.blogs
