One Dream

Image
Dreams are wonderful things. Dreams come true every day.   One of mine has just come true. I have created a business to publish books of my poetry. It is official. My publishing business, La Luna Press, L.L.C. is open for business. I have many, many dreams that I want to accomplish. This is the first of many. A brand new world has just opened up for me.   I am tremendously excited about this new venture. Please visit my new website for my new business, as well as my new Facebook page, to share in my dream. Thank you. Everyone is welcome.   -Esperanza Habla-Poet, Writer, Translator, Publisher, Entrepeneur   www.lalunapress.com   https://www.facebook.com/lalunapress     Photo courtesy of Kristen Pugh Photography https://www.facebook.com/KristenPughPhotography?fref=ts

The Writer's Eye

Image
It seems that writers look at the world differently than others do, with a detailed eye. Each writer has their own unique view of the world, their own unique eye that helps them see, perceive, detect.   Each eye is as unique and varied as the writers themselves. Some writer's eyes are like kaleidoscopes, some are like magnifying glasses, mirrors, even indigo colored glasses. Once the writer discovers their eye, it then becomes a tool for examining themselves and the world around them. It is a wonderful tool of self-expression, self-exploration, knowledge of the self. The writer is then blessed with enhanced clarity, vision, wisdom and insight into themselves, their friends, loved ones, patterns, behaviors, pathologies, even the world itself.   The writer’s eye does help us writers understand the world around us, and our place in it. We do see the world differently. I see myself differently. It has been a profound resource for me. Before I found my eye, it was like I was look

Vacation

Hello everyone. I am writing you on one of the last days of my vacation. I have been on vacation from work for a week now. I have had many tasks to get done this week. There were many things I wanted to do as well. Every day I had a list of chores to do, places to go to, things to purchase, things to return, and other general errands. I also had places I wanted to go to as well-places I hadn't been to in a long time. I decided to split the chores into a daily list; I simply had too many to do. I decided to run errands all morning long, and then relax in the afternoon. (I have had a few ideas for poems to write. You will see the poems here in the coming days.) One of the things that happened this week was my birthday. I had a wonderful day. Many online friends contacted me that day. Many wrote on my wall in Facebook, many sent me messages; some sent me video messages. It was a spectacular day. I spent my birthday walking around shopping malls, returning one thing, purc

Creating a Destiny

Life is an amazing thing. It moves by so quickly. With that in mind, I thought I would give you an update on things since I wrote “ My Story”: http://letrasalaluna.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-story.html   Things have been going well.   I began this blog last December. My reason for changing blogs was ease of use for you, the reader. This blog has over 60 languages. You can select the language you want, and have my poetry translated into your language. To date this blog has had over 5,100 visitors. As I have grown as a poet and an artist, I began to think about publishing my work. I have done much research on the subject. I have decided that the best way to publish my poetry is to do it myself. I have been working on compiling my poetry for months, getting it ready for print. The books are now in the editorial stage. There are 4 books in all that I want to publish: two in English, two in Spanish, in print and electronic format. I have also been building a webs

The Moon

Image
I have been fortunate in my new life as a poet. I have met many artists from many different types of art. The other day I met a man, a poet. He is as enthralled with the moon as I am. As long as humans have existed, we have had a fascination with the moon. The moon has had a profound effect on humankind in many areas, including calendars, days of the week, religion, art, literature, music, science, mythology. In urban lore, it can make a person turn into a werewolf. The moon can make a person go insane-hence the term “lunatic”. Our name for the first day of the week is taken from the moon. Prehistoric humans made carvings about the moon. Stonehenge and other lunar temples were created 5,000 years before Christ. People tracked the phases of the moon for information about growing and harvesting crops. The waves in the ocean are under the spell of the moon. There is something that draws us to the moon. It is an inexplicable phenomenon. The moon has been the subject of m
